Flash dietary methionine supply over growth requirements in pigs: Multi-facetted effects on skeletal muscle metabolism

چکیده

Dietary methionine affects protein metabolism, lean gain and growth performance acts in the control of oxidative stress. When supplied large excess relative to requirements diets for pigs, positive effects on pork quality traits have been recently reported. This study aimed decipher molecular biochemical mechanisms affected by a dietary supply above loin muscle finishing pigs. During last 14 days before slaughter, crossbred female pigs (n = 15 pigs/diet) were fed diet supplemented with hydroxy-methionine (Met5; 1.1% methionine) or not (CONT, 0.22% methionine). Blood was sampled at slaughter assess key metabolites. At same time, free amino acid concentrations expression activity levels genes involved energy metabolism measured longissimus lumborum (LM). The Met5 exhibited greater creatine kinase plasma when compared CONT methionine, alpha-aminobutyric acid, anserine, 3-methyl-histidine, lysine, proline LM than Expression synthesis, breakdown autophagy only scarcely diet. Among ubiquitin ligases, MURF1, gene known target contractile proteins, OTUD1 coding deubiquitinase protease, up-regulated A lower citrate synthase, reduced level ME1 acting lipogenesis but higher PPARD regulating also observed Principal component analysis revealed that many studied correlated meat across treatments, suggesting subtle modifications those had cumulative regulation processes leading transformation into meat. In conclusion, supplementation beyond nutritional during modified profile its redox capacities, slightly pathways related metabolism. These associated benefits traits.

Effects of dietary energy sources on early postmortem muscle metabolism of finishing pigs

OBJECTIVE This study investigated the effects of different dietary energy sources on early postmortem muscle metabolism of finishing pigs. METHODS Seventy-two barrow (Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire, DLY) pigs (65.0±2.0 kg) were allotted to three iso-energetic and iso-nitrogenous diets: A (44.1% starch, 5.9% crude fat, and 12.6% neutral detergent fibre [NDF]), B (37.6% starch, 9.5% crude fat, and 15...

Effects of serotonin on skeletal muscle growth

Background Myostatin (MSTN), a member of the transforming growth factor beta family, negatively regulates skeletal muscle mass. Deletion of the Mstn gene results in increased muscle mass. Also, Mstn-/mice and mice expressing a dominant negative MSTN receptor (activin receptor type IIB, ACVR2B) show decreased adipose tissue. Mstn-/mice fed a high fat diet gain less weight, have improved glucose ...

Effects of epinephrine on lipid metabolism in resting skeletal muscle.

The effects of physiological (0, 0.1, 2.5, and 10 nM) and pharmacological (200 nM) epinephrine concentrations on resting skeletal muscle lipid metabolism were investigated with the use of incubated rat epitrochlearis (EPT), flexor digitorum brevis (FDB), and soleus (SOL) muscles. Muscles were chosen to reflect a range of oxidative capacities: SOL > EPT > FDB. The muscles were pulsed with [1-14C...

Dietary-induced changes of muscle growth rate in pigs: effects on in vivo and postmortem muscle proteolysis and meat quality.

The effects of various growth rates in pigs induced by four different feeding strategies on the activity of the calpain system and on postmortem (PM) muscle proteolysis and tenderness development were studied. An increased growth rate may be caused by an increased protein turnover, which results in up-regulated levels of proteolytic enzymes in vivo that, in turn, possibly will affect PM tendern...

Is methionine transaminated in skeletal muscle?

Methionine transamination is extensive in rat and chick skeletal-muscle homogenates, but is barely detectable in intact rat, but not chick, skeletal muscles. Branched-chain amino acids essentially block methionine transamination in intact muscles and homogenates from both species. The physiological significance of methionine transamination in skeletal muscle is questioned.
